My Inspirations

I have been wanting to make a little "tribute" page to the people who inspire me the most. Whenever I am baking something I am always thinking about the people who inspire me, support and encourage me. Whenever I am at school, thinking about them gets me through any struggles I am having. I am always aiming to please people through my baking and as a person in my daily life, I aim to make people happy as well. The people I am going to mention have been my greatest sources of inspiration and guidance. I don't know if they know how much they mean to me so this is dedicated to them.

On top of these certain individuals, my family is always my main support. As the saying goes, "if it weren't for them, I wouldn't be here". It's very true. They guided me to where I am today. My mom and dad are the people I aim to please the most. I want them to be proud of me and happy for everything I do. I know that they are and that keeps me going. It's always nice to come home from school with a bag of baked goods and see their eyes light up in anticipation of what is in my bag. Although it may be frustrating hearing them ask over and over again, "when can we eat some?" (because I always have to take photos first), I always take it as a great compliment.

My grandma is a great encouragement as well. Recently, she found an article in a magazine of a woman who moved here from Mexico and has started a successful business (in real estate) and she gave it to me because she wanted me to know that she thinks I am going to be just as successful as her. It's great to know that she is behind what I am doing and knows that what I am doing makes me happy.

My family always inspires me. They are the ones I want to make the happiest through what I am doing.

Tam

My friend Tam is my most honest friend. If she doesn't like, she tells me. Which I am extremely grateful for. I don't want people to tell me all the time that everything I make is delicious. I need criticism- it helps me improve. Before I started Culinary School, there would be times that Tam would come hang out with me and watch me bake. Her curiosity and questions helped me learn. She's patient and she teaches me how to cook as well. She's just awesome!

Vanessa
I have known Vanessa since third grade! Vanessa is a great support. We don't see each other often but what I love is every once in a while, she will send me a text message asking me how school is going. It makes me happy to know that she still thinks of me even though I have this crazy busy schedule. When  you give Vanessa a good dessert, she lights up. There is nothing better than giving someone a good dessert and seeing them get happy instantaneously- that inspires me.

Adrienne
Adrienne! This girl is just awesome. There is not one person I know (outside of school) that shares the same passion for baking as I do. Adrienne is an amazing baker. I think she needs to open a bakery because she is just that great. Adrienne and I always share our trials and errors in the kitchen. Sad part is, she lives in Utah. If we lived closer, I know that we would be baking up a storm together any chance we get! She's a great source of information and I learn so much from her.

Ann
My Cupcake BFF. Ann and I share a love for cupcakes. Edible, visual... all things cupcake! I've known Ann since high school and she's been one of my truest friends my entire life. Ann is so supportive of everything I do. When I talk about opening a bakery she gets excited with me. We brain storm ideas together and think about cute ways to decorate my dream bakery. She is always there for me through thick and thin and I appreciate having her as my friend.

Jeff
My Jeffy. I think Jeff deserves major kudos. Being a boyfriend to an aspiring Pastry Chef can't be an easy task. We get frustrated in the kitchen, we watch hours and hours of Food Network, we stop at the kitchen accessories in every store and we make them eat a lot of carbs. However, Jeff is so calm and understanding through all my errors and my quirkiness. He's a big fan of anything chocolate and dislikes many fruit dishes- he likes "man food". Ever since I met him, I have been baking for him. If we got into an argument, more than likely I'd bake him something to apologize. I think the phrase, "the best way to a man's heart is through his stomach", fits perfectly for him. :)  Jeff has always been supportive of my decision to go to Culinary School and he still displays that support to me everyday. I think he's my biggest fan and if it weren't for his encouragement, I don't think I would be where I am right now.

Chelsea
Chelsea. Oh my goodness. I think this girl inspires more people than just me. I work with Chelsea at Kara's Cupcakes; she's my supervisor. The story that this girl lives is amazing. At work, we have a board with our photos and a quick blurb explaining a little about ourselves. On Chelsea's she wrote, "Food should be a right, not a privilege". She lives this motto everyday. Her passion seeps from her skin and she is always so passionate about explaining and sharing her knowledge of anything food related to her peers. Not only has this girl been a pleasure to work with, we have grown to be great friends and she has inspired me in ways that no one else ever has. She helped me loose 30 pounds basically by educating me and BELIEVING in me. No matter where her life takes her, I hope we will always stay in touch.

Thank you to everyone for always believing in me. I love you all!
